“No Pedigree Required”

Once again Nuggett,, my four-legged companion, allowed me to see something through God’s eyes. As we were walking the other day a young couple were walking their two little pedigreed dogs.  Of course Nuggett likes and wants to play with and investigate all dogs.  I saw the look on their face as Nuggett, my sweet Heinz 57 variety, tried to approach their dogs. I could see them thinking–  “What kind of dog is that and should we let him near our little pedigreed dogs?”  As I saw that interaction I began to praise and thank God for he does not accept us if we are only pedigreed.    All we have to do is believe on the name of Jesus.  It does not matter to God who our fathers and forefathers were. He is no respecter of persons. We don’t  have to show Him our credentials or do an interview with Him.  It does not matter how many accomplishments we’ve had in our life.  He does not see us the way the world sees us.  He sent His son to die on the cross for the sins of all men.  All we have to do is believe .  Romans 10:9-13 is so rich.  It says, That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile (no pedigree–my words)–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” I told you it was rich, didn’t I?It  gives me goosebumps every time I read it.   It plainly states that salvation is for everyone, Jew or Gentile. There is no pedigree required.  Aren’t you glad?  But wait, there’s more. In 1 Peter 1:9 it says, But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” Glory Hallelujah!  That gets me excited to be a child of God because I no longer walk in darkness.  How I wish that everyone could see how very much God loves them.

Lord, I thank you that you did not require me to show you anything about me before you allowed me to be saved. I came to you as I was and you lovingly took me into your arms through the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross. All I had to do was believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord.  What a glorious day that was. Lord, I pray that many people will be enlightened to this truth today and that they will receive salvation through your Son Jesus.” I praise your name Lord.  Amen
