Search for Him

This morning I looked at my Facebook page and saw the daily verse I get from from Worship Word.  It was Psalm 9:10 which says,  “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.”  The part that grabbed at my spirit is the part that says, “search for you”.  It says those of us who know His name trust in Him and those of us who search for him He does not abandon.  In one of my prior blogs I spoke of my struggles with always trusting in Him and I know I have been searching for Him for many years in many ways.  I just wonder if trust and search has to go hand in hand and what are the ways I search for Him?

I know I search for Him in His word which is living.–the inerrant, God-breathed Word of God.    I search for Him in Jesus.  The Bible says, the Word was with God (Jesus) and the Word was God (Jesus).  I can search for God in every word of the Bible.

I mentioned my little garden in a past blog also and I feel like I have been searching for Him by observing His creation.  As I looked down into the large yellow squash flower the other morning there was a beautiful bee down in the very center of it and I reveled in the intricacies of all of God’s creation down to the tiniest thing in His creation.  I cannot begin to describe how these few plants I have planted this year have helped me to get Back on the Road.

I can search for Him in people.  This is where it gets hard.  We are such a judgmental society that we can’t get past the failures (what we see as failures–not God) and things we dislike to see the good in those around us.  What we need to see in others is that Jesus died for “all” .  He died for that person whom we might be judging and demeaning.  Yes, maybe they haven’t acknowledged God in their own life but why aren’t we praying for them instead of  judging them.  I may be getting a little off subject here but my mind is twirling around with these words from Psalm 9.

I desire more than anything to “search for Him” and it’s obvious I have allowed hurt and disappointment to take me off this search for the last couple years.  I determine to get back on this search by first of all “trusting” Him and then by renewing what I know I need to renew.

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you. PSALM 9:10

Lord, stir my desire to “search” for You with all my heart without distractions.  Amen
